We love beginners because the changes and improvements are often very dramatic. Our goal is to create a fun, encouraging and safe environment for you to explore what your body and mind can do.
At Synergy Hot Yoga, we believe that everyone can (and should!) do yoga. Don’t think you have to be in shape before coming. This yoga will help get you there. Every class offered (except the silent music class) is suitable for a “first class.” The series was designed for all ages, and all levels of fitness. All students practice the same poses, but at their own level. There is an exact position for everyone at every level, which our instructors will help you find. The magic is that everyone does what his or her body can do and receives the same benefits: 100% effort equals 100% benefit, regardless of level.
Yoga is not only about flexibility, so don’t be intimidated! Even if you think “there is no way I could ever do that,” you will still get the exact same benefits as that very flexible person next to you, just from trying your best. Balance, strength and flexibility are all bi- products of a regular yoga practice. You will begin to see improvements after only a few classes, but some bodies will never be able to do what some others might; it is not a competition or about comparing yourself to others in the class; everyone’s body is different, and every day your body is different. Just do the series to the best of your ability each day and you will see and feel the benefits.
Synergy Hot Yoga also offers a unique “warm series” of classes which are shorter in duration (60-75 minutes) in a room that is not quite as hot. You might want to try one of these classes if you feel uncomfortable with the heat or the rigor of the regular hot series.
What should I bring and how should I prepare for my first class?
-new students please come 15 minutes early. This will allow time to register and prepare for class (the door is locked once the class begins).
-Come on an empty stomach, but be well hydrated; It is recommended that you bring at least a quart of water in to class with you.
-Wear light workout clothing- something you feel comfortable sweating in- women wear shorts, and a jog bra or tank top, men wear shorts or bathing suit with or without a t shirt or tank; changing rooms provided;
-Bring a large bottle of water, yoga mat and towel (all available for purchase or rent)
-leave shoes on racks at the front door when you enter the studio
-Bring dry clothes to change into afterwards.
-Bring a positive attitude- you don’t have to be flexible or in shape to do yoga, you just have to do it; you will thank yourself for coming!
Remember to drink plenty of water before, during and after class. Good hydration supports the healthy functions of all your body’s systems and it makes the heat feel comfortable rather than overwhelming.
